Content Tools and Tips

January is the best time to plan out content and promos through the rest of the year. While we focused on promotion ideas last week, this week we will go over how to best organize them and stay on track all year long.

Set Goals

Setting goals at the start of the year isn’t a new idea, but it is incredibly helpful to know what you want your marketing to achieve prior to planning. Setting goals like increasing foot traffic or larger sales is the first step to planning out content strategically for the year.

Content Calendars

The easiest way to plan content visually is with a content calendar. These calendars don’t have to be complicated — just include promotion and posting dates, important events, and deadlines to keep track of marketing through the rest of the year.

Use Vendor-Centric Content

Some vendors have straightforward products, like notebooks and pens, while others require a bit more explanation, like solar-powered headphones or reusable notebooks that students can wipe clean and start fresh. Providing short explanations for products in your store that could use some clarification is a great way to help students understand and want these products. Be on the Right Platforms

The best content can go unseen if it’s on the wrong platform. While college students use a variety of social platforms based on their interests, the most popular media sources are TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. These platforms tend to prioritize videos, so keep that in mind while planning content through the rest of the year.

Measure Results

While having an effective content strategy is a great goal, it can be difficult to know if you’ve achieved it without having methods in place to measure results. These measures don’t have to be fancy — they can simply be tracking an increase in likes and comments on social media posts or an influx of followers. Having some way to measure results will inform you of the efficacy of your social media content strategy and let you know what works and what doesn’t.

Final Thoughts

Content strategy can be overwhelming to start, but these tips will make it a breeze and make it successful too. Be sure to stay on the lookout for more free content tools from us in the next few weeks!
