How to Tackle the Samsung Galaxy Note7 Recall

Rather than issuing another replacement plan as Samsung did earlier last month, the company is now offering full refunds and a gift certificate for the pain of dealing with not one, but two recalls. Many consumers bought cases, lens attachments, and power packs with their Note7’s. Discussions are still in the works with vendors on how to cover these costs.

Samsung is urging Galaxy Note7 users to turn off their phones and for retailers to stop selling the phone to prevent any further damage. “Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority,” the statement explains, “Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7 while the investigation is taking place.”

According to the official Safety Recall statement as of October 13, 2016, their strategy is as follows:

  • Exchange your current Galaxy Note7 for any Samsung smartphone and replacement of any Galaxy Note7 specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices
  • Obtain a refund at your point of purchase

If your store brought in any Samsung Galaxy Note7 accessories or products, here’s how you can assist your campus through this transitional period.

  1. Stay up to date on the Samsung Note 7 Recall
  2. Let your campus know what the safe practices are for returning their phones
  3. Provide students with alternative accessories for Galaxy phones such as the S7 or S6
