Showing Equality in Your Store

As communities stand together for social justice, we want to share insight from NACS on actions your store can take to ensure equality amongst employees.

  1. Recruitment and hiring: Do you announce job opening broadly and give equal consideration to all applicants based on skills? Will minorities feel welcome in your stores’ culture?
  2. Work performance and advancement: Are employees evaluated under the same standards and do you encourage collaboration? Does everyone have equal opportunity for promotion?
  3. Customer interaction: Do all customers feel welcome and receive the same service, whether purchasing, making a return, asking for information, or lodging a complaint? Are customers of color treated with suspicion?
  4. Merchandising and marketing: Do your promotions and events speak to all cultures? Do your images and displays reflect diversity?

Together we can end racial injustice.
